The Warren United Church in Warren, Vermont is seeking a full time pastor. Our previous pastor, Susan McKnight, retired on December 4, 2016, after 15 years of service. At that time, Rev. Kurt Shaffert joined us as an interim pastor and continues in that capacity.
9/18/18 Announcement from the Search Team:
On Sunday, September 16, the Warren Church Search Team attended Bethany Church in Randolph to observe Erin Reardon prepare and lead worship. We have been actively interviewing, communicating and visiting with Erin in the candidate process since early July. This was the last formal part of our search process before deciding to make a recommendation to the congregation. Erin prepared a very well-crafted worship service and delivered a beautiful sermon. Following the service we met with Erin and jointly agreed that she would be recommended to our congregation to be our next settled pastor. The Search Team could not be more delighted!
Erin is a native Vermonter and grew up in Essex Junction, graduating from high school in 1998. She has a B.A. in Religious Studies and Philosophy from St. Michaels College, a Master of Theological Studies from Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto, a Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Second Languages from Boston University, and a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School. If you came to the conclusion that Erin loves to learn you would be correct.
Erin’s vocational background includes teaching English as a Second Language, Citizenship, and Computers. She has also served as a facilitator for the Alternatives to Violence Program in state prisons and as a Violence Interventionist/Preventionist Medical Advocate in hospitals. She has served as Minister of Visitation and Confirmation Leader at Christ Congregational Church in Brockton, MA since 2014 and graduated from Andover Newton in 2015. Additionally, Erin completed three units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Rhode Island Hospital with a focus on crisis and psychiatric spiritual care.
The Search Team has been drawn to Erin through her sensitivity, compassion, keen intellect, listening skills, confidence, energy and pastoral presence. She exhibits a deep faith that has guided her in her search for a congregation that will fulfill her desire to practice pastoral ministry. Erin is an upbeat, positive person who will bring great joy to our congregation and community.
Erin and her partner Mike Kleinhenz are eager to begin their life in Vermont. We will have a candidating weekend October 13-14, when the congregation will have the opportunity to meet Erin on Saturday afternoon at 4 PM, and attend worship led by her on Sunday morning at 10AM. The service will be followed by a vote of the members of the church to call Erin as our Pastor. Pending congregational affirmation, Erin has indicated her availability to begin with us in early to mid-November. Please make a special effort to join us on October 13 and 14.
